I highly recommend this books for those looking for an easy-to-read and practical framework for implementing Digital Transformation in your organization. Very well written with lots of great interviews too.
I loved this book. It has so many examples of real life situations. It gives very clear guidance as to how to execute a transformation.. it is not a book full of theory but a book where you can apply what you read immediately. It makes a transformation look easy.. it’s s must have.
As a Digital Transformation coach and trainer who’s read (at least) 15 books on the subject within the past year, it strikes me that these ‘tools’ tend to fall into one of two categories: paint brushes and knives. The paint brushes richly infuse the subject with colourful complexity – a vibrant array of frameworks, models, and stories that captivate and (most often) overwhelm the reader. The knives cut the subject up into small, easily digestible pieces. In Digital Transformation: Build Your Organization's Future for the Innovation Age, Lindsay Herbert has produced a surgical scalpel.Using BUILD as an acronym for the 5 stages of Digital Transformation (Bridge, Uncover, Iterate, Leverage and Disseminate) the author leaves no stone unturned as she systematically maps the journey from ‘here’ to ‘there’. She offers valuable insight into often overlooked aspects of Digital Transformation, including: the appointment of a project leadership group; crafting and communicating the transformation vision internally; measuring and managing customer experience; embracing external joint ventures; and scaling innovation within the organisation (to list only a few).I have to admit that as someone who loves a good story, I found myself frequently longing to take a peek under the hood of Lindsay's clinical textbook-style expositions, and delve into the stories, drama and emotions of the many projects that shaped her wisdom and insight. If I could make one change to this book ... I wouldn't. If you want stories and case studies, rather read books like 'Digital to the Core' by Mark Raskino and Graham Waller; or 'The Digital Transformation Playbook' by David L. Rogers. If, however, you're wanting a practical field guide that will significantly increase your chances of leading successful Digital Transformation within your company, then look no further...Thanks to this exhaustive work by a seasoned practitioner, if you’re able to read and understand English, then you are now able to champion digital transformation within your organisation. If, however, reading is not your thing, then the audio book will serve you VERY well.

More than that, it provides the 'How' together with practical guidance on undertaking the journey to digital transformation. This book should be on the '2018 must read list' for anyone who wants to gain a greater understanding of, or embark on, digital transformation. I will be highly recommending this book to my colleagues and industry peers.
