Kelly M. Wahlquist is a Catholic author and speaker, and the founder of WINE: Women In the New Evangelization. She is the assistant director for the Archbishop Harry J. Flynn Catechetical Institute in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.Wahlquist is the author of Created to Relate, the editor of Walk In Her Sandals, and a contributing writer for WINE. Wahlquist leads women’s pilgrimages through Italy and Ireland and travels around the country speaking on the New Evangelization. She lives in Minnesota with her husband, Andy, and their children.

I love reading through 1 or 2 devotional-style books during Lent and Advent. I chose this one as I liked the idea that it included a fictional account of the Holy Week. The book is written for women and we mostly observe Holy Week through the eyes of the women who accompanied Jesus.It's structured across 6 chapters covering different gifts for particular days: Receptivity (Palm Sunday), Generosity (Holy Thursday), Sensitivity (Good Friday), Prayer (Holy Saturday), Maternity (Easter Sunday) and the Gift of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost). Each day/chapter was addressed by each author which I enjoyed. Kelly Wahlquist gave us a Moment to Ponder, Sarah Christmyer dived into Scripture, Stephanie Landsem provided the fictional account, Pat Gohn unwrapped the gift being discussed, we got the opportunity to practice Lectio on the Scripture reference and there were some questions to consider and dive deeper personally at the end.I particularly enjoyed Stephanie's fictional account and the Lectio. I'm relatively new to the latter and this was a great way for me to learn more about and found picturing myself in the scene to be so revealing.I am not a Catholic and even though all the authors are and it is written for a Catholic audience there are many takeaways for all believers. However, I found many of the chapter ending questions not to be particularly relevant.This was a very useful way to observe Lent due to the multiple perspectives and the emphasis on Scripture.
I purchased a number of copies of the book to give as gifts. A group of us met once a week during Lent to discuss the book. We all were pleased with the way it was written. All the authors gave their strength to each chapter. I have read it over again and will continue to do so. There is so much to get from it regardless of the season in which it is read. I would highly recommend this book for any time of the year reading.
This is a fantastic book to read during Lent. The combination of "voices" enriches the study of the last days of Jesus Christ's life and his resurrection. I highly recommend this . In fact, I read it on my Kindle, and then was so thrilled with it that I purchased a regular copy of it.
I can only say that I am in awe of the new meaning this group of blessed women can give to the Passion of our Lord. It has truly changed me, I hope it does many women as well. Thank you for waking up the flame in my heart again!!
My friend and I just recently started to co run a women's ministry at our parish. And we kicked things off by doing this book study with 20 other women! Amazing!!!
Every Catholic woman should read this. I read it as part of a Women's Lenten Retreat, but it's focus on women and the Bible is worth reading any time.
Wow! Great perspective on the women's view of the last few days before Jesus died and then rose again.
I liked how the book walks through the events that take place leading up to Christ's death and resurrection through the eyes of the women that witnessed it. I especially like reading this book during Holy week.
